After the changes Captain Hardy's is awesome. Great food and great service. Really enjoyed my burger again. The price is great as well probably the best in town for price and quality.

The service was great. The burger was very good. The fried, gravy and coffee leave something to be desired though.

Had the Shogun Ramen excellent broth and the noodles were perfectly done. Maybe presentation could have been better. Good service.

It was ok. The gravy and fries were amazing! My boyfriend and daughter got burgers which were pretty tasty. I got the turkey club, I was excited when I saw it, it looked amazing. But there was much to much mayo and the turkey looked like a solid breast but had a chunk of cartilage that really turned me off. Service was friendly but extremely slow.

Had higher expectations than were achieved but one of the better places to eat in Port Hardy.

Under new owners, this place is really good. The food was excellent. The only con was you need to bring cash as they hadn't yet set up a debit terminal. Will definitely go again

Located in the heart of Port Hardy this restaurant offers some of the best fish and chips on the North island. In addition to offering a wide variety of vegetarian options and Japanese inspired dishes.

Cool little place. Friendly service, accommodates for large groups, has nice-ish scenery, pretty good food, and decent prices. Would recommend trying.

Halibut and chips are best I've had in years. A bit pricy but portions are huge. Wife and I split a meal and were full. Name of establishment is being changed to '''Fire Chefs".If you like fish and chips go here. Very friendly staff.

Got the clam chowder and it was good. Nice clean place with friendly staff. They were a bit slow but I don't usually hold that against them. Cool place over all.

I walked in not knowing what to expect but on a quest for poutine. I was quickly assured that I could order some by a friendly young woman with a beautiful, open smile. The chef was friendly too and as he cooked sang and danced to "My Guy". Fun, wonderful cafe! Clean and quaint but most importantly fabulous, mouth watering poutine. Yay!

Wow! The Northern Islander Burger was something else! Wish I had a larger stomach to try something else on the menu, because it was top notch! Highly recommend visiting this place!

Decent size meal. Burger was quite good and large portion, as were my fries, although tasted like curry a bit. Fries were a bit inconsistent and overcooked for one of our party.

Ordered a seafood platter for two. It was near the end of closing. We ordered and got our good in good time. The good was great this has calamari, cod, halibut, and sushi and fresh cut fries. It was alot of food for two of us. No complaints .. good for the price we paid.

The perfect place for lunch. A perfect mix beetwen canadian cooking by french canadian an his wife canadian from japan . All that on the west canada . Just a surprise , my best lunchs in B.C.

I love restaurants that have history, that "should" make the chefs and staff work that much more to carry it's name! The Fire Chefs do an amazing job with their menu, I've had a few items and each has been finely tuned in with the exception I have missed out on the sushi roll haven't had the opportunity to have one just yet. They have done a fine job displaying the history and living up to Captain Hardy's fish and chips one day I'll catch the sushi roll and one day we'll see the famous fish and chips in the news paper again. Job Well Done!

Simply the best. I had eaten fish&chips often in the Northern Europe and I tested so many fish&chips from Seattle to Prince Rupert... and definitely the winner is in Port Hardy 😉

Good food the chef is great with working around dietary restrictions

We ordered the (locally caught!) fish and chips and the nest salad. After a long day of biking, the meal hit the spot. The service was friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommended for a good dinner.

Went yesterday for the first time with my fiance!! Food was amazing, you could actually watch it be prepared if you wanted to. I got the filomi burger. It was so rich. Had delicious sauce, burger, lettuce, cheese, and amazing caramelized onions. So worth it. I had to take some home it was so much. My fiance had the smoked meat sandwich which he enjoyed just as much. He had to ask for a pickle and it gave it the perfect touch he said. Only complaint would be that we had to wait about ten minutes for our drinks. I think there was only one waitress working, which makes it tough. But we shouldn't have had to wait that long! In the end, she kindly discounted us 10% on our bill for the drink wait. We will be going back!!
